I find this puzzling since the transmitter will trigger the Nissin flash every time when fired independently of the camera. Update: I've been in direct contact with Hahnel who say that this unit is not compatible with Nissin flash units. I'm wondering if I happened to get a dud unit since other reviews have been generally favourable. Placing the flash on the hotshoe it works every time, so clearly there is no problem with the hotshoe. Pressing the test button on the transmitter will fire the flash, and depressing the camera shutter halfway lights the green light on the transmitter, so there is at least some communication. I have cleaned contacts on the hotshoe and checked the transmitter is fitted properly, but still no good. When mounted on the hotshoe of my Canon 40D and used to trigger a remote flash (which is mainly how I want to use it) it will only fire very occasionally.
